The year of the multi-trend

Our Womenswear manager Lucy is stuck. 2013 seems to be the year of the multi-trend. Scores of clashing, stand-out trends means that it’s hard enough putting them all together to complete an outfit forgetting that it could cost you a small fortune to keep up. So after clearing her head and taking a short break from all her manic PR-ing she tries to organise her thoughts.

AW 13 HIGHTLIGHTS

All the AW 13 trends are appearing in the glossys thick and fast – Winter is on its way! This not only excites me but also scares me, what look am I going to go for?!        Grunge, Ladylike, Oversized….they go on!

After careful research I have decided I need a capsule wardrobe, full of key, classic pieces that I can rotate instead of being the ‘trend whore’ that I normally am.

5 Key AW 13 Pieces:

1. Something Pink

You might have heard that pink is in for AW, from dusky to bubblegum. My fave pink piece has to be the Carven coat, Uh –Mazing. You can also pick up great pieces from Topshop Unique, Marks and Spencer and of course Zara.

2. Oversized

Anything oversized is a key trend for AW 13, I especially love the oversized sweatshirts for a sports luxe look. Head to Whistles for chic grown up versions or go to Urban Outfitters for cute printed styles.

3. Tartan

Grunge is huge this season and what better way to give a nod to the trend than tartan, I’m loving these two check pieces, both from Topshop.

4. Boots

Again in keeping with the Grunge theme a pair of chunky boots are key. I can’t quite pull off Doc Martin’s (I work in PR darling) but I do love the sleeker more ‘mannish’ styles. Zara have some lovely monkstrap and cut out styles.

5. Houndstooth

Houndstooth was big on the catwalk, seen at Dior and Mulberry. I’m going to add a little monochrome into my wardrobe with this skirt from Monki and wear with chunky knits and clashing prints.
